What to Look for During a Tour
A checklist of things to inspect when visiting a rental.
Check the basics: water pressure, electrical outlets, heating/cooling, and natural light. Open and close all doors and windows to ensure they work properly.
Look for signs of damage: water stains on ceilings, mold in bathrooms, cracks in walls, and pest evidence. Document anything you find with photos.
Test the neighborhood: visit at different times of day, check noise levels, look for nearby amenities (grocery stores, transit, parks), and assess parking availability.
Ask about: move-in costs (deposit, first/last month), lease terms, maintenance request process, guest and pet policies, and any planned renovations.
